The United States has supplied Nigeria with what it described as critical military equipment to support the country’s ongoing battle against terrorism, banditry and kidnapping.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the delivery was announced on Tuesday by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) via a post on X, confirming that American forces handed over key military materials to Nigerian security agencies in Abuja as part of efforts to deepen bilateral security cooperation.

According to AFRICOM, the supplies are intended to strengthen Nigeria’s operational capacity and reflect the shared commitment of both countries to addressing security threats.
“This delivery supports Nigeria’s ongoing operations and underscores our shared security partnership,” the statement noted.
The development comes amid intensified diplomatic engagement between the United States and Nigeria over persistent security challenges, including the activities of extremist groups operating in different parts of the country.
In recent weeks, the US Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, held discussions with Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and his team, focusing on escalating violence and concerns over attacks on Christian communities.

Hegseth stated that the administration of President Donald Trump is increasing collaboration with Nigerian authorities to confront extremist groups linked to the violence, reaffirming Washington’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s efforts to restore peace and stability.
The renewed engagement follows earlier remarks by President Trump, who criticised the Nigerian government over its handling of the killings of Christians and warned of consequences should the situation persist.
