The rising wave of electricity infrastructure vandalization in Epe took a major turn on Tuesday night as suspected vandals responsible for destroying power poles across the area were apprehended in a coordinated security operation.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the suspects, caught around 8pm while vandalizing seven newly installed poles, are believed to be linked to the nearly 30 poles destroyed in recent weeks,an act that has plunged several communities into total blackout.

According to the Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, the joint effort between the LCDA security task force and the Nigeria Police Force led to the successful arrest of one of the suspects, a Fulani man, who reportedly attacked operatives during the encounter.
He sustained injuries while attempting to escape and was immediately taken to Ketu-Ereyun General Hospital for treatment before further interrogation.
Chairman Anomo, who visited the suspect at the hospital earlier today, described the development as a significant breakthrough in the fight against repeated attempts to cripple electricity restoration efforts in Epe.

“These criminals have done untold damage to our infrastructure, and we will not fold our arms while they sabotage the progress we are making,” he said.
“I am determined to follow this case to the end to ensure the culprits face the full wrath of the law.”
He further praised the vigilance and swift intervention of security personnel, noting that community involvement remains key to curbing further incidents.
“Our residents must stay alert and report any strange activities around power installations,” he added. “We can only win this fight when everyone plays their part.”
