EKO HOT BLOG reports that the high-profile meeting, presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, governors, National Working Committee (NWC) members, and other key stakeholders. However, Buhari and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai were notably absent.
Speaking to BBC Hausa, Shehu explained that Buhari did not attend the meeting because he received the invitation too late.
“President Muhammadu Buhari is not a caucus member of the party. He was supposed to attend the NEC meeting, but unfortunately, the invitation was sent to him on Monday and only reached him on Tuesday. Given the short notice, it was impossible for him to leave Daura for Abuja, even if he owned a private jet,” Shehu said.

Despite his physical absence, Shehu emphasized that Buhari remained committed to the party and its progress.
“Buhari is a founding member of the APC. He was nominated by the party for president twice. He remains a dedicated member, even though he was not present at the meeting,” he added.
