EKO HOT BLOG reports that Wike was received at the secretariat by the PDP National Secretary, Senator Sam Anyanwu, in what observers see as a significant development in the internal struggle for control of the party’s structure.
The visit comes shortly after a faction of the PDP aligned with Wike took over the party’s national headquarters following the unsealing of the facility by the Nigeria Police.
The PDP has been grappling with a prolonged leadership crisis, which escalated on November 18 when rival factions clashed at Wadata Plaza. The confrontation involved a faction of the National Working Committee led by Tanimu Turaki and backed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, and another faction loyal to Wike under the leadership of Abdulrahman Mohammed.
The latest development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Abdulrahman Mohammed led National Working Committee through its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed.
The statement warned against any action capable of causing disruption or violence within the party, stressing the need to maintain order.
It also commended the Nigeria Police Force for its role in unsealing the secretariat, describing the move as a demonstration of professionalism and respect for the rule of law.
According to the faction, the intervention reflects adherence to constitutional order and due process as the party works through its internal disagreements.
The crisis within the PDP continues to generate tension, with competing factions laying claim to the party’s leadership and structures ahead of future political activities.
