Members of the Hotel and Personal Service Senior Staff Association have picketed the Abuja Continental Hotel over alleged unfair labour practices, poor working conditions and issues surrounding the unionisation of workers.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the association, an affiliate of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, commenced the action on Monday by blocking the entrance to the hotel as part of the protest.
Speaking to Channels Television, the union accused the hotel management of failing to address concerns relating to workers’ freedom of association and what it described as indecent working conditions.
The union also alleged that efforts to engage the hotel management over the issues had been rebuffed.
As of the time of filing this report, the union members were attempting to lock the hotel’s gate, but their move was being resisted by the police and some hotel officials.
The entrance to the hotel remained blocked by the protesting union members as the dispute continued.
