- Teachers hail President Tinubu as a reformer of Nigeria’s education sector.
- Ambode praised for welfare-friendly policies, school upgrades, and teacher training.
- Teachers call for Ambode’s return as Lagos governor in the 2027 elections.
As Nigeria joined the rest of the world to mark World Teachers’ Day, groups of teachers across Lagos State have restated their loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while calling for the political reconciliation and re-election of former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
Eko Hot Blog reports that speaking at the Teachers’ Day celebration organized by the Tinubu-Ambo Support Group in Lagos, educators from primary and secondary schools under various associations hailed President Tinubu as a reformer of the nation’s education sector and described Ambode as one of the most teacher-friendly governors in the history of Lagos State.
According to the teachers, Ambode’s administration stood out for its commitment to teachers’ welfare and educational development.
They recalled his legacies, including the prompt payment of salaries and allowances, recruitment of qualified teachers, massive infrastructural upgrades of public schools, and extensive teacher training through the EkoEXCEL and digital education programs.
“Ambode treated teachers as partners in progress, not just civil servants,” Mrs. Toyin Ajani, one of the teachers, said. “He ensured we had the tools, motivation, and respect needed to nurture the next generation.
His administration laid a solid foundation that subsequent governments are building upon.”

The teachers further noted that Ambode’s policies aligned with President Tinubu’s vision for a prosperous Lagos during his time as governor, stressing that both men share a progressive ideology rooted in human capital development, innovation, and compassion.
They therefore called for Ambode’s re-election bid in the next Lagos governorship race, insisting that “Ambode remains a true son of Lagos, tested and trusted, and deserves another chance to continue his great works.”
Pledging their readiness to mobilize colleagues and stakeholders across the state, the teachers assured that they would rally support for the Tinubu–Ambode agenda ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Teachers will never forget Ambode’s love, humility, and policies that lifted the teaching profession in Lagos. On this World Teachers’ Day, we renew our commitment to support leaders who truly value education and the people behind it,” they concluded.
