World Toilet Day: Lagos EHOAN Women Highlights Toilet Values, Donates Toilet Cleaners to Alimosho Schools
- Lagos State Chapter of the Environmental Health Officers Association Of Nigeria (EHOAN), Women’s wing celebrated this year’s World Toilet Day in Alimosho
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Lagos State Chapter of the Environmental Health Officers Association Of Nigeria (EHOAN), Women’s wing on Friday donated Hand wash equipments as well as materials for keeping the toilets clean to secondary schools in Igando-Ikotun LCDA area of Alimosho to celebrate World Toilet Day.
The Lagos State EHOAN Women’s wing also implored residents to ensure that they take cleanliness of toilets very important.
The Chairperson of Lagos State EHOAN Women’s wing, Sanitarian Aramide Pedro, stated this during the celebration of the World Toilet Day held in conjunction with an NGO, ESAARTHLI, and Igando-Ikotun LCDA.
World Toilet Day is celebrated annually on 19 November to inspire action to tackle the global sanitation crisis with this year’s theme being “Valuing Toilet”.

San. Pedro who is the host and doubled as the HOD, Environmental Health Services, Igando-Ikotun LCDA said the campaign was brought to the students so they can spread the gospel of good toilet hygiene amongst their peers and parents.
The event kicked off with a rally from Igando-Ikotun LCDA down to Ikotun Senior Grammar school where the students were addressed and admonished on how to value the toilet and its importance.
They also donated Hand wash equipments as well as materials for keeping the toilets clean to Ikotun Senior Grammar School, Ikotun Community High School, and Ikotun Junior Grammar School respectively.
While speaking, The Lagos State President, EHOAN, San. Taiwo Awonuga advised the students to take hygiene as the best practice against the spread of disease.
He also admonished Nigerians to shun open defecation as Nigeria ranks number one in open defecation globally.
The EHOAN National President Emeritus, San. (Dr.) Akingbeyin Samuel declared that builders and house owners must make provision for sanitary conveniences such as toilet accommodation in their homes to forestall the practice of open defecation which causes the spread of disease.
The president of the NGO, San Grace stated that the mission of the NGO is to capture the students and youth, making them environmental stewards.
She added that the toilet must be valued as the toilet is part of our dignity and it is as important as our personality itself.
The representatives of the schools expressed enormous appreciation to the officers for the sensitization and materials donated to the schools.
Speaking with EKO HOT BLOG, The Vice Chairman of the LCDA, Comrade Mojisola Badmus, who also represented the chairman appreciated the Environmental Health Officers and NGO that championed the program and also challenged them to do more as the health and environment of the LCDA is the top tier to the council.
Others present at the event were Environmental Health Officers from different Local Government and LCDAs in Lagos State, The wife of the Chairman Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Mrs Akinsanya among others
