According to the Ukrainian leader, Moscow is allegedly trying to persuade Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to support new military actions linked to the war.

He stated that Russia could be considering attacks targeting northern Ukraine, particularly the Chernihiv and Kyiv regions, or even operations directed at NATO member states using Belarus as a launch point.
Belarus shares borders with Ukraine as well as NATO countries including Poland, Lithuania and Latvia.
Zelenskiy did not provide detailed evidence to support the allegation, while there was no immediate reaction from either Moscow or Minsk regarding the claims.
Belarus has remained one of Russia’s closest allies since the conflict began in 2022.
Lukashenko allowed Russian forces to use Belarusian territory during the early stages of the invasion, although Belarusian troops have not officially participated in combat operations inside Ukraine.
In recent years, Minsk has also agreed to host Russian tactical nuclear weapons and advanced missile systems.

Zelenskiy said Ukraine had intelligence reports indicating that Russia may again attempt to involve Belarus more directly in the conflict.
He warned that Ukraine would defend itself if Belarus decided to actively support any new Russian military campaign.
The Ukrainian president added that he had directed the country’s defence forces to strengthen security and prepare response measures in the northern regions bordering Belarus, including Chernihiv and Kyiv.
