Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has cautioned residents against supporting Boko Haram insurgents in any form, including offering shelter, supplies, or other assistance.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the warning comes after a recent military operation by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, which carried out strikes in the Jilli area of Gubio Local Government Area on Saturday.

The community lies along the border between Borno and neighbouring Yobe State.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Dauda Iliya, the governor described Jilli market as a location previously linked to the activities of insurgents and their supply networks.
He noted that both Jilli and Gazabure markets had been shut down by the state government about five years ago due to security concerns.
Zulum added that he is in ongoing discussions with the Yobe State Government and military authorities regarding the situation.
He explained that decisions to reopen markets or allow displaced communities to return are always made in coordination with security agencies, especially in areas affected by insurgency.

Reaffirming his administration’s focus on public safety, the governor said efforts would continue to ensure peace and stability across the state.
He also called on residents to stay alert and share useful information with security agencies to support ongoing operations against insurgents.
