Anambra APC has distanced itself from Ngige’s refusal to endorse Tinubu.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, after he failed to endorse the presidential bid of the party’s candidate, Bola Tinubu.

Recall that Ngige was noncommittal about voting for Tinubu when he appeared on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television, earlier in the month.

He noted that he had two friends, Tinubu and Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, in the presidential race, so he could not publicly choose between them.

The minister said his decision would be made when he exercises his franchise on February 25, 2023, the day of the presidential election.

“Both of them are my friends. My choice will be in the ballot box. Whether conscience or no conscience, on that day in February, I’ll have one vote,” he had said.

In a statement on Sunday, Chairman of APC in Anambra, Basil Ejidike, said Ngige’s opinions do not represent the party’s position in the state.

“Ngige never said he represented the party during the interview and whatever he said was personal and does not reflect the position of the party in Anambra state,” Ejidike said.

According to the APC chairman in Anambra, the state chapter of the party is supporting Tinubu for the presidency.

Earlier, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Murtala Ajaka, asked Ngige to resign if he cannot support the former Lagos governor.
