He urged participants to embrace the transition from campus to career as a defining period that requires courage, discipline, and the right mindset.
“Life will test your patience, but you must never shake your purpose,” the Minister said. “What you do in the first five years after graduation will shape the next fifty years of your life.”
Drawing from his personal experience, Olawande encouraged the youth to keep learning, volunteer, build meaningful relationships, and avoid shortcuts that promise quick wealth. He cautioned them against comparing themselves to others, stressing that “every destiny has its own clock.”
Speaking on the government’s commitment to youth empowerment, Olawande highlighted key initiatives under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, including NiYA, YouthCred, and YoHealth, which are designed to help young Nigerians transition “from learning to earning.”

He also commended Mrs. Layal Tinubu and the Noella Foundation for their consistent dedication to nurturing young leaders, describing their work as “a shining example of investing in the future of Nigeria.”
Now in its sixth year, the Life After School Summit has grown into one of Nigeria’s leading youth empowerment platforms, providing a space for graduates to connect, learn, and prepare for the realities of life beyond the classroom.
As the event concluded, Olawande’s message of patience, perseverance, and purpose resonated deeply among attendees, leaving a reminder that true greatness begins with the courage to take the first step.
