Eko Hot Blog reports that during a press briefing in Jalingo, the youth leaders described the governor’s rumored defection as “completely unacceptable” and urged the APC not to welcome him into the party.

According to the State Coordinator, Bilyamin Musa, the governor’s political ideology does not align with the principles of the APC.
“We, the youths of APC in Taraba State, unanimously reject the move by Governor Agbu Kefas to join our great party. He does not represent the progressive values we stand for. Our position is firm—we do not support his entry into the APC,” Musa stated.

The group criticized Governor Kefas’s performance in office, arguing that his administration has failed to deliver tangible results for the youth and the state in general. They accused him of leadership practices inconsistent with the APC’s vision and values.
The youth leaders also called on the party’s national leadership to respect the stance of Taraba APC members and safeguard the party’s integrity from individuals who, they fear, could weaken its foundation in the state.
Reaffirming their loyalty to the APC and President Bola Tinubu, the group pledged to continue mobilizing young people to strengthen the party’s structure and ensure its success in future elections.

Meanwhile, Barrister Sani Marke, Special Adviser to Governor Kefas on Legal Matters, has defended the governor’s decision. He described the move as a strategic and forward-thinking step that would benefit Taraba State.
Marke explained that aligning with the federal government would attract more development opportunities and support from the centre.
He also commended APC leaders who have shown openness toward the governor’s possible defection, describing their attitude as a display of political maturity and unity.
