The minister was represented by the Director General of the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG), Chief Muyiwa Asagunla.
Peretei led a coalition of key opposition figures and members from other political parties, including the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Action Alliance (AA), into the APC. The defectors were formally received by the APC State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, amid cheers from party supporters.
Speaking at the event, Peretei said the new members were joining the APC to contribute to the continued progress and development of Ondo State. He described opposition parties in the state as “mere social clubs” without leadership or strategic focus.
“There is no justification for remaining in opposition when governance can only be influenced from within,” Peretei said, noting that members of the Nigeria Workstation and Sunshine Grassroots Network have also aligned with the ruling party.

In his message, Tunji-Ojo commended President Tinubu for his developmental strides across the country, particularly in the Southwest. He cited the dualisation of the Ore–Akure, Ilesha–Akure–Benin, and Akure–Ado-Ekiti roads, as well as the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, which passes through Ondo State, as examples of the President’s commitment to infrastructure renewal.
He emphasized that these achievements must be consolidated beyond 2027, urging Ondo people to sustain their support for the Tinubu administration.
Welcoming the defectors, APC State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, who represented the National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, assured the new members of equal rights and opportunities within the party.
Adetimehin lauded President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that it had brought visible benefits to the people of Ondo State. He urged party members to remain united and work collectively to ensure Tinubu’s victory in 2027.
