A leadership crisis has erupted over the management and control of the Assemblies of God Church Nigeria property located on Nanka Street, New Haven, Enugu State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the dispute involves two pastors of the church, Rev. Okechukwu Obioha and Rev. Isaac Nnaji who are locked in a tussle over who should oversee the church’s landed property in the area.

Findings revealed that Rev. Nnaji was recently transferred to the District Headquarters of the church in New Haven, where the property is situated. Upon assumption of duty, he reportedly insisted on taking full control of the facility.
However, Rev. Obioha has been managing the property since August 2021, following a Power of Attorney issued to him by the Incorporated Trustees of the Assemblies of God Nigeria.
The Power of Attorney, signed by the former General Superintendent, Rev. Ejikeme Ejim, former General Secretary, Rev. Godwin Amaowoh, and former General Treasurer, Rev. Vincent Alaje, empowered Obioha to “take possession, administer, and manage the property” on behalf of the church.

It also authorised him to “collect rents, sign tenancy agreements, issue notices, and execute all necessary documents related to the property.”
Trouble reportedly broke out on October 30, 2025, when Obioha visited the property to collect rent from a tenant. According to his account, he was accosted by some persons allegedly led by Rev. Nnaji, who warned him never to step into the premises again.
In a petition to the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State, titled “Threat to Life and Malicious Damage,” Rev. Obioha alleged that he narrowly escaped being assaulted.
“They enveloped me with the intention of assaulting me before passersby and other people intervened to rescue me,” the petition read.
He further claimed that the confrontation caused panic and traffic congestion in the area before the alleged attackers dispersed, warning him never to return.
“They threatened that if I ever show up again, it will only be my dead body that will be seen,” he added.
Obioha said the incident left him traumatised and called on the police to intervene to prevent further hostilities.
When contacted on Tuesday, Rev. Nnaji declined to comment, saying the matter was already before the police.
“The case is before the police. I will not talk about it now,” he stated.
