The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched an investigation into a self-acclaimed prophet, Godwin Sunday Ajuluchukwucheya, popularly known as Prophet Sunday Koboko, over allegations of defrauding members of his ministry to the tune of N70.39 million.
Eko Hot Blog reports the anti-graft agency disclosed the development in a statement shared on its official X handle on Wednesday, stating that operatives of its Enugu Zonal Directorate are probing claims that the cleric obtained money from worshippers under the guise of spiritual interventions and investment opportunities.

According to the EFCC, one of the petitioners, Okey Uwakwe, alleged that the prophet collected N6.23 million from him to carry out spiritual exercises aimed at convincing his brother, who has lived abroad since 1997, to return to Nigeria.
Uwakwe further claimed that he paid an additional N3.25 million for spiritual assistance to help his sister-in-law conceive after reportedly remaining childless for more than 15 years.
The commission also disclosed that the petitioner alleged that the cleric informed members of his congregation that he had won a N33 billion lottery and encouraged them to contribute funds with assurances that they would receive dividends from the supposed winnings.
Based on the claim, Uwakwe reportedly invested another N3.35 million in the scheme and paid N500,000 towards a rice-processing business allegedly valued at N1 billion.
The EFCC said the petitioner estimated that he paid a total of N13.33 million to the suspect without receiving any of the promised benefits.

The agency noted that as investigations progressed, several other members of the ministry came forward with similar complaints.
Some worshippers alleged that the cleric sold items described as “holy ghost thunder”, “miracle stickers” and “spiritual dragons”, promising wealth, breakthroughs and solutions to personal challenges.
Quoting one of the complainants, the EFCC stated: “He asked me to do what they tagged ‘holy ghost thunder’, believing it was going to solve my problems. I bought it, and after all the payments, nothing happened, and my problems persisted.
According to the commission, preliminary findings indicate that the suspect allegedly collected a total of N70.39 million from members of his ministry through the various schemes.
The EFCC said investigations are ongoing and assured that the suspect would be arraigned in court once inquiries are concluded.
