The Vice-Chancellor of Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Alaba Akinwale, O.P., has been honoured with an Award of Excellence by his primary school alma mater peers — the 1974 Set of St. Paul’s Catholic School, Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

Speaking at the ceremony, members of the 1974 Set described the Vice-Chancellor as a beacon of intellectual distinction and moral strength.
They noted that his achievements in theology, philosophy, university administration, and pastoral service have brought honour not only to the school but also to the Catholic community in Nigeria.
They added that the award was a collective expression of pride in one of their own, acknowledging his journey from the classrooms of Ebute-Metta to becoming one of the country’s most respected scholars and clergymen.
Prof. Akinwale, visibly touched by the gesture, expressed heartfelt gratitude to his former classmates and the school community.
