The Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, said the outcome reflects a strong commitment to justice, noting that eight defendants were discharged and two acquitted, underscoring adherence to due process.
For many Nigerians, especially those affected by insurgency, the development offers a sense of relief and hope that justice is being served and communities can begin to heal.
Fagbemi added that 112 cases could not be concluded and would be handled in the next phase of trials scheduled for June 15 to June 18, 2026.
He explained that beyond punishment, the courts also ordered rehabilitation and de-radicalisation for many of the convicts, aimed at reintegrating them into society and preventing future violence.

The proceedings were observed by organisations such as Amnesty International, Nigerian Bar Association, and the National Human Rights Commission to ensure transparency.
Authorities say the mass trial sends a clear message that terrorism will not be tolerated, while also reinforcing efforts to protect lives and restore stability across affected communities.
