EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the order mandates the detention of social media influencer Mr. Reno Omokri, former Dunamis Church Pastor Abraham Daniel, and two others, Mr. Enenche Idoga Alexander and Mr. Oboyinlo Enenche Peter, pending investigation.
The court order was granted on Thursday, January 16, 2025, after an ex-parte motion was filed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, on January 13.

The remand is based on a petition by Patrick O. Okolo, SAN, who accused Omokri, the Gistlover Blog, Aunty Adul, Peter Obonyiro, Kelechi TV, and others of alleged defamation. The police are investigating the matter, and the respondents are expected to face charges following the completion of the investigation.
Granting the ex-parte application, Chief Magistrate Iyanna ordered the Nigeria Correctional Service to hold the four individuals in custody until the investigation is concluded. The court also directed that the accused be arraigned in a competent court after the investigation.
The court’s decision came after careful consideration of the petition and supporting documents presented by Francis Gabriel, Esq., representing the IGP. The accused are expected to appear in court on January 30, 2025, for further legal proceedings.

The legal proceedings involving Omokri and others stem from allegations of defamation and cyber-bullying, with the primary focus on social media posts and comments made by the accused. Omokri, a former special assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on New Media, is facing accusations related to false and defamatory statements made about individuals, including Pastor Paul Enenche of Dunamis Church.
A source familiar with the situation revealed that Pastor Abraham Daniel’s involvement in the case was linked to his resignation from Dunamis Church. Daniel reportedly left the church after a falling out with Pastor Enenche, which allegedly led to threats against him and a series of troubling incidents, including a car accident and subsequent arrest by the police.

The source also mentioned that Daniel had agreed to delete certain social media posts following an intervention by the police but was later dissatisfied with the outcome. According to the source, despite the agreement to remove the posts, Pastor Enenche reneged on a promise to compensate Daniel for his lost vehicle, leading to further tension.

Following multiple police invitations and detentions, Daniel faced further charges, including cyber-bullying and defamation. The police investigation reportedly focused on specific WhatsApp chats and social media posts that raised concerns about the conduct of Pastor Enenche and his family.
Daniel, during his police interview, reportedly confirmed the accuracy of the posts, including those about the condition of a family member’s house and the tattooed appearance of Pastor Enenche’s daughter. He was later instructed by the police to apologize and remove the publications.
The police investigation and legal proceedings are ongoing, with the four individuals now remanded in custody until further developments.
