Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to visit South Africa next month, the country’s presidency announced on Friday.
“President Zelensky will be visiting South Africa on April 10,” presidency spokesman Vincent Magwenya told AFP.
The visit is part of ongoing discussions aimed at fostering “an inclusive peace process” between Russia and Ukraine, Magwenya added.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa extended the invitation last week following widespread criticism of efforts by Russia and the United States to negotiate an end to the war without Ukraine or its European allies at the table.
“South Africa remains committed to supporting the dialogue process between Russia and Ukraine,” Ramaphosa stated in a post on X.
He described his discussions with Zelensky as “constructive” and emphasised the “urgent need for an inclusive peace process that involves all parties.”

Zelensky, in response, expressed gratitude to Ramaphosa for backing “Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” adding that he remains hopeful for peace this year.
“Our countries share the same position: nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine,” Zelensky said on X.
