EKO HOT BLOG reports that Justice Musa Awani Aba-Aji, who oversaw the case, dismissed the request following a motion from Kingsley Njemanze (SAN), Anyanwu’s representative. This withdrawal reinforces the earlier rulings by both the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal in Enugu, which had removed him from his position.
The Supreme Court’s five-judge panel, led by Justice Aba-Aji, is proceeding with the main appeal hearing. In December 2024, the Enugu Division of the Court of Appeal upheld the Federal High Court’s decision, declaring Chief Sunday Ude-Okoye the legitimate PDP National Secretary.
In his lead judgment, Justice Ridwan Abdullahi stated that Anyanwu’s appeal was without merit, noting that he breached the PDP constitution by attempting to hold the national secretary role while also running as the party’s governorship candidate in the 2024 Imo State election.
