One of the recently appointed local government administrators in Rivers State, Goodluck Ihemnacho, has officially resigned from his position as the administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area.
Naija News reports that Ihemnacho’s resignation was conveyed in a letter dated June 20, 2025, and addressed to the state’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), who had appointed him alongside 22 others to oversee the affairs of the local governments.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in the letter, Ihemnacho stated that his decision was driven by a desire to return to the private sector. “I humbly write to your noble office to convey to you my resignation as the administrator, Ahoada East LGA,” the letter read.
He went on to express appreciation for the opportunity to serve, adding: “My sincere gratitude goes to the government of Rivers State and the good people of Ahoada East for finding me worthy to serve from the 11th day of April 2025 to the 20th day of July 2025.”
However, according to Punch, the resignation may be politically motivated. Sources suggest that Ihemnacho is stepping down to enable him participate in the forthcoming local government elections in the state, which are expected to hold later this year.

The move comes amid political recalibrations across Rivers State, where several administrators are reportedly considering contesting elective positions as the tenure of the current transition committees nears its end.
No official response has been issued yet by the Rivers State government regarding his resignation or possible replacemen
