EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to the Head of Service, Mrs Didi Walson-Jack, the vacancies include two arising from the retirement of Permanent Secretaries representing Imo State and the Federal Capital Territory, while three others have been created in the North-Central, North-East and South-East zones due to the establishment of new ministries.
In a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mrs Eno Olotu, Walson-Jack said the process is aimed at ensuring transparency, credibility and merit in line with the administration’s commitment to good governance. She explained that only officers on Grade Level 17 who have served for at least two years on the grade and have no pending disciplinary issues are eligible.
The exercise began with the compilation and screening of qualified officers by a committee of serving Permanent Secretaries, with oversight from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission and the Department of State Services. Candidates were also required to complete asset declaration forms with the Code of Conduct Bureau, while clearances from the EFCC, ICPC and DSS are ongoing.
The next stage, a written examination, is scheduled for September 15 at a Federal Government facility. Successful candidates will proceed to an ICT proficiency test on September 17, before the final oral interview on September 19. The interview panel will consist of serving and retired Permanent Secretaries, former Heads of Service, the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, and private sector representatives, with anti-corruption agencies observing the process.
Since assuming office, President Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 Permanent Secretaries, with swearing-in ceremonies held in November 2023, June 2024, December 2024, and March 2025.
