Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has publicly dismissed swirling rumors that he plan to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The former governor released a statement, reaffirming his loyalty to the All Progressive Congress (APC) and his unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
According to Eko Hot Blog, the rumors suggested Ambode was preparing to run for governor on the ADC platform. In his statement, Ambode described these reports as “false publications” designed to create political distraction. He expressed his full commitment to President Tinubu’s re-election campaign for the 2027 polls.

Ambode, who referred to President Tinubu as his mentor, lauded his administration’s accomplishments. He highlighted key reforms in pensions and student loans, as well as efforts to empower Nigerian youth.
He also credited the president with ending persistent fuel scarcity, enhancing national security, and implementing policies to improve the lives of ordinary citizens. The former governor concluded by expressing confidence that another four years of President Tinubu’s leadership would provide Nigerians with “greater reason to celebrate.”
He urged all APC members and citizens to ignore such distractions and remain united in working towards a resounding victory for the party in 2027.
