EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, the governor described the development as a “vote of confidence” in his administration, saying it reflected strong approval of his policies over the last two years.
Recalling his 2023 campaign visits to all 44 local government areas, including Dawakin Tofa, Yusuf said the area had been central to his political journey. He highlighted completed projects in the constituency, such as a five-kilometre road abandoned by the previous administration, and announced plans to build a new school.
The governor assured the new NNPP members of full inclusion in the party without discrimination. He also unveiled plans for more development projects and a familiarisation tour ahead of the 2027 elections.
Yusuf further revealed that the Dawanau International Market would be restructured into an agency with a governing board and Managing Director to improve its operations. He praised the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Chairman for generating ₦500 million internally and funding development initiatives, including improvements in 15 primary schools and sponsorship of over 1,000 students in tertiary institutions.
NNPP State Chairman Hon. Hashim Dungurawa congratulated the defectors, expressing confidence that Dawakin Tofa could surpass the party’s 2023 electoral success in Gwale.
Notable defectors include Hon. Nura Tumfafi, Hon. Isyaku Dahiru Kwa, Alhaji Umar Ismail, Alhaji Abba Muntari, Sani Shafiu, Hussaini Adamu, Alhaji Abdullahi Ayuba, Magaji Ruba-Ruba, Sabo Adamu, and Abdullahi Sale Turaki.
