- Urges successor to focus on action, not talk
- Says credibility of elections depends on results, integrity
- Demands a leader beyond speeches

According to Eko Hot Blog, the NPSA President made the remarks as pressure builds for the replacement of Mahmood Yakubu, whose tenure as INEC chairman ends this year.

He emphasized that rhetoric and promises are no longer enough that Nigerians expect the next leader to act with integrity, transparency, and clear results.
He warned against appointing someone merely eloquent or politically savvy, stressing that the focus should be on a candidate’s track record, ability to safeguard electoral integrity, and commitment to fairness. In his view, what matters most is not how much a person speaks about reform, but how much they achieve it.
The president pointed out that public confidence in electoral outcomes has weakened over recent elections, in part because promised reforms often lag behind announcements.
He argues that the country needs a chairman who can restore faith in the system by delivering credible and efficiently managed polls.

He also suggested that the process of choosing the successor should be inclusive, involving civil society, academia, election experts and other stakeholders, to reduce suspicion and ensure the appointee is widely respected.
Analysts say the call for “less talk, more action” reflects widespread frustration with political performance in Nigeria not just in election management, but across many public institutions. Many believe that a leader with fewer speeches but measurable achievements is what the INEC needs at this critical juncture.
As discussions continue about INEC’s leadership post-Yakubu, Nigerians will be watching who is nominated and more importantly, whether they act beyond promises.
