- Digital mapping initiative to improve service delivery and future development
- Integration of GIS for accurate data and real-time analysis
- Strong participation from traditional rulers, stakeholders, and community leaders
Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, under the leadership of Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has embarked on a sensitization campaign to educate residents on the importance of systematic house numbering and Geographic Information System (GIS) integration for effective governance and community development.
Eko Hot Blog reports that speaking at the sensitization program held at the council secretariat, Hon. Olowa explained that the initiative would not only enhance planning but also tackle challenges such as poor service delivery, delayed emergency response, and disorganized utility distribution.
“This initiative aims to create a digital database of all land parcels, assign accurate street names and house numbers, and develop a modern township map to guide future planning,” the Chairman said.

He further stressed that the project aligns with the Lagos State Government’s 20-year development plan (2024–2044), designed to transform rural communities into sustainable urban and economic hubs.
Technical expert, Dr. Yemi Odumosu, demonstrated how modern tools such as drone mapping, imagery merging, and field enumeration will be deployed. “GIS supports digital mapping, real-time data analysis, and integration with smart city systems,” he explained.
The event also featured interactive sessions with stakeholders, where traditional rulers, councillors, community leaders, and residents contributed inputs to strengthen the project. Hon. Olowa urged community leaders to ensure that royal fathers and Baales endorse street naming forms before presenting them for government approval.
Among the dignitaries present were the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka, councillors, Council Manager Mr. Abiodun Oladipupo, Chief of Staff Mr. Issa Maruf Olayinka, royal fathers from Ibeju-Lekki kingdoms, artisans, industry leaders, and members of the Community Development Committee.
