EKO HOT BLOG reports that Tinubu directed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to start immediately on these projects under emergency consideration. The move is aimed at easing accommodation challenges faced by law students in the Abuja campus.
One hostel will be built for female students, the other for males, each with 300 rooms. The male and female hostels will be located within the Nigerian Law School campus.
Besides the accommodation, Tinubu also approved a road project to link the Body of Benchers Secretariat in Jabi District to Nile University. The access road is expected to ease congestion along the route leading to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters.
Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, confirmed that both projects will be executed urgently. He said the hostels will “provide adequate accommodation for students of the institution” and the road will address traffic congestion problems in key Abuja districts.
Observers have welcomed the decision, noting frequent accommodation shortages at the Law School that force students into off-campus housing far from key facilities, which increases cost and stress. The road link is also seen as beneficial for daily commuters and institutions in that part of Abuja.
With the hostels and road marked as emergency projects, expectations are high that construction will begin swiftly and be completed on schedule, providing much-needed relief for law students in Abuja.
