EKO HOT BLOG reports that the 26-year-old striker calmly slotted home a Panenka-style penalty in the 64th minute after being fouled in the box, before netting again just two minutes later by rounding the goalkeeper and tapping into an empty net.
Speaking after the game, Mbappé said he felt confident when stepping up for the penalty and was happy to contribute again.
“I knew what I was going to do, and I’m glad it worked. The important thing is the three points,” he said.
Teen sensation Franco Mastantuono also grabbed headlines as he scored his first goal for the Spanish giants.
The 18-year-old Argentine, who joined from River Plate this summer, struck a brilliant shot into the top corner in the 38th minute to give Madrid a 2-0 lead. It was his fifth start for the club.
Brazilian forward Vinícius Júnior had opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a low finish into the far post.
He appeared relieved after ending a short goal drought, following recent frustration over being substituted in previous matches.
“It feels good to score again. I just want to help the team win,” he said after the game.
Levante managed to pull one back through a close-range header by Etta Eyong in the 54th minute their first shot on target.
Madrid quickly regained control with six wins from six matches and now sit five points clear at the top of the table ahead of rivals Barcelona, who travel to face Oviedo on Thursday.
They’ve also started strongly in Europe, defeating Marseille in their Champions League opener.
Levante, who only returned to the top flight this season, remain on four points from five games.
