The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has commenced an investigation into two travellers arrested for allegedly failing to declare foreign currencies totalling $6,180 and £53,415 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Terminal 2, Lagos.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the anti-graft agency disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday by its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, identifying the suspects as Mamud Nasidi and Yahaya Nasidi.

According to the EFCC, the duo were apprehended by operatives of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) during a routine check on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
“Upon arrest, the suspects, who were scheduled to travel to Abuja after arriving in the country from Dubai en route Addis Ababa, were handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS), which subsequently transferred them to the Commission for further investigation and prosecution,” the statement read.
The EFCC also recovered three mobile phones from the suspects.

The suspects and exhibits were received by CSE Margaret Lamai on behalf of the acting Zonal Director, Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE1 Ahmed Ghali.
The Commission said investigations were ongoing to determine the source of the funds and whether the suspects breached financial regulations on foreign currency declaration.
