EKO HOT BLOG reports that confirming the incident, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, said he had been briefed about the abduction and was in communication with the Director of Security in the state.
Idris assured that the Kebbi State Government had taken control of the situation and was working closely with security agencies to ensure the lawmaker’s safe release.
He said, “Yes, I just got the information about the alleged abduction of the Deputy Speaker in his hometown this evening. I am in touch with the Director of Security in the state. Once I get the full details of what transpired, I will inform you of the government’s position. I can assure you that the state government is on top of the situation and will ensure he is released safely.”
The abduction adds to growing security concerns in northern Nigeria, where banditry and terrorism have continued to threaten peace and governance.
In a related development, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has warned against negotiating with armed groups without proper disarmament measures. He stated that allowing bandits to retain weapons while seeking peace undermines state authority and delays true stability.

Lawal made the remarks during a lecture at the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS) in Abuja on the theme, “Non-state Actors in Security Management: Issues, Challenges, and Prospects for Peace and Development in Africa.”
