Tuggar’s comments came in response to Trump’s social media post on Sunday, in which he claimed that Christians were being killed “in very large numbers” in Nigeria and directed the Pentagon to consider possible intervention.

“There can’t be any religious persecution that is supported in any way, shape, or form by the government of Nigeria at any level,” Tuggar stated, emphasizing the country’s commitment to the rule of law and religious harmony.
He warned against efforts to divide Nigeria along religious or ethnic lines, citing Sudan’s crisis as a cautionary example. “We’ve seen the consequences of dividing nations based on religion or tribe.
We must not allow that to happen in Nigeria,” he said, standing beside his German counterpart, Johann Wadephul.

The minister also dismissed claims of a targeted Christian genocide, stressing that Nigeria’s security challenges affect citizens of all faiths, both Muslims and Christians alike.
Reiterating the government’s stance, the Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, said earlier that Nigeria “opposes religious persecution and protects all citizens, irrespective of faith, race, or creed.”
He added, “Like the United States, Nigeria celebrates diversity as its greatest strength.”
