A man suspected of attempting to steal a motorcycle in Abagu, Gboko Local Government Area, was reportedly set ablaze by a mob in the early hours of yesterday.
Eyewitnesses said the suspect was caught in the act while trying to steal a parked motorcycle.

Eko Hot Blog reports that despite appeals from some onlookers to spare him, the mob allegedly overpowered any intervention and set the man on fire.
The incident occurred just a day after commercial motorcyclists, commonly referred to as Okada riders, staged protests in Gboko over claims of harassment and extortion by security personnel.

Residents described scenes of panic at dawn as the mob carried out the act, drawing a crowd before security agents arrived. The remains of the victim were later removed, and normalcy has since returned to the area.
Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.
