The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has praised President Bola Tinubu for maintaining neutrality during Saturday’s Anambra governorship election, describing his stance as a strong defence of Nigeria’s democracy.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the party’s spokesman, Mr Seye Oladejo, made the commendation in a statement on Monday in Lagos, noting that the President’s approach reflects his commitment to credible elections and the deepening of democratic processes.

“The President has once again shown that he remains the most credible defender of Nigeria’s democracy by encouraging transparency and refusing to interfere in the electoral process,” Oladejo said. He added that Tinubu’s neutrality reinforced public confidence in the electoral system and affirmed his reputation as a true democrat.
Oladejo also lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as a credible and transparent election, highlighting that the poll under INEC’s new leadership marks a “bold and refreshing new dawn” for Nigeria’s democratic experience.
Commenting on the election results, Oladejo said the outcome revealed disunity and structural weaknesses within the opposition coalition. He described the coalition as “political wanderers and competing egoists,” lacking vision, organisation, and national appeal.

“A group that cannot win in its own stronghold should stop dreaming of national victory,” Oladejo stated, emphasising that the APC would remain focused on governance and reforms to improve the lives of Nigerians. “The Anambra election is a warning to the opposition that the era of emotional blackmail is over.”
INEC had on Sunday declared incumbent Governor Charles Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), as the winner of the election with 422,664 votes. His closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the APC, garnered 99,445 votes.
Other candidates included Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) with 37,753 votes, John Nwosu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with 8,208 votes, George Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP) with 10,576 votes, and Jude Ezenwafor of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with 1,401 votes.
