Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has urged the Federal Government and security agencies to take urgent steps to strengthen security in Kwara State, particularly the troubled Eruku community.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the appeal comes hours after terrorists stormed a CAC church in Eruku on Tuesday, November 18, killing two worshippers and abducting several others during a live-streamed service.

Saraki, in a statement released on Wednesday, November 19, said he received news of the attack with deep sadness, describing the incident as both “terrible and disturbing.”

He lamented that the assault had shattered the long-standing peace enjoyed by the quiet border town, leaving residents traumatised and families in grief.
The former governor sympathised with victims and bereaved families, praying for healing, comfort, and a swift rescue of all those taken away by the attackers.

Saraki called on the Federal Government especially heads of security agencies to immediately mobilise all necessary resources to secure Eruku, rescue the abducted residents, and prevent further violence in Kwara communities.
He stressed that Kwara’s strategic location as a gateway between the North and South requires a robust security structure capable of protecting both local and national interests.
“May Allah heal our land and help us overcome those waging war against Nigeria,” Saraki added in his message shared on X.
