The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa,led the official flag-off of the rehabilitation of the vandalized 33KV overhead power line spanning 5 kilometers from Ibeju Long Bridge to Okegun Madagbayun.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the ceremony, held in Okegun Odofin community, drew community leaders, residents, youth groups and a delegation from Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) led by Mrs. Obilanade and Engr. Olaopa, alongside the appointed contractors.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Olowa expressed satisfaction over the commencement of the project, stressing that access to reliable electricity is a major priority for his administration.
He applauded EKEDC for partnering with the council and responding swiftly to the community’s needs.
“This power line belongs to you. Guard it jealously. Any act of vandalism is an attack on your own progress and development,” the Chairman stated.
He urged residents of Okegun Odofin and adjoining communities to take ownership of the facility once restored by safeguarding the installations against vandalism.
Officials of EKEDC and the contracting firm assured the community that the rehabilitation work would begin immediately and would be completed with strict adherence to quality standards and timelines.
Community leaders also pledged their full cooperation and promised to mobilize vigilance groups to protect the infrastructure round the clock.
The rehabilitation project is expected to restore steady electricity supply to Okegun Odofin, Okegun Madagbayun and surrounding communities, improving local businesses, security and living standards.
Dignitaries present included Hon. Sebiu Lawal, Chief Whip of the Legislative Council; Hon. Aromire Razaq Abidemi, former Secretary to the Local Government; Hon. Adewale Adebanjo; Chief Saheed Ijaodola, CDC Chairman; Comrade Jabita Adeboye; and APC Woman Leader, Alhaja mobi Raji.
