Through the SAIL Innovation Lab’s STEM programme for public schools, 64 Senior Secondary School (SSS3) girls who previously struggled with basic computer use have successfully completed five foundational digital skills modules, covering creativity, communication, navigation, and essential IT skills.

A representative of the SAIL Innovation Lab said, “This programme is about more than technology; it is about giving these young girls the tools to imagine, create, and thrive in the digital age.
They are now prepared to engage confidently with digital platforms and contribute meaningfully to a tech-driven world.”
The initiative reflects Senator Tokunbo Abiru’s commitment to long-term empowerment, particularly for young girls.
By focusing on digital skills, the programme ensures that participants gain confidence, exposure, and practical tools to navigate academic, professional, and entrepreneurial opportunities in a rapidly evolving digital economy.
One of the participants, 17-year-old Funke, shared her excitement: “Before this programme, I could barely use a computer. Now I feel confident, and I even know how to create presentations and communicate my ideas effectively. I am inspired to pursue a career in technology.”
The completion of the programme marks a significant milestone for the students, equipping them with essential skills that will enhance their learning experience, boost employability, and open doors to future STEM opportunities.
