The atmosphere blended heartfelt tributes, inspiring speeches, and a clear vision for the 2025/2026 Rotary year.

Onabajo, delivering an emotional acceptance speech, paid homage to her late father, Rev. Dr. Mo Onabanjo, who passed away earlier this year.
She described him as her “pillar of support,” whose teachings on balance, compassion, and service continue to guide her life. “Though he is no longer here, his spirit lives on in me,” she said, visibly moved.
She expressed gratitude to the club members for trusting her to lead, pledging to uphold the ideals of service above self with integrity and dedication. “I am deeply honored and humbled to serve as President of this great club. With the support of my board and the passion of our members, I will give my very best,” she told the audience.
In a personal interview, Onabajo shared her vision for the year ahead. “Being president is more than a title it is a responsibility to inspire, unite, and lead our members toward growth,” she said. “Over the next year, we will expand our membership, strengthen fellowship, and deepen our impact in the communities we serve.
Our projects will be purposeful, from education and healthcare initiatives to supporting underserved groups, all reflecting Rotary’s core value of ‘Service Above Self.’”

The new president also acknowledged the contributions of her predecessor, PHF Gbenga Afere, noting that his strategic initiatives provide a strong foundation for continued growth.
Onabajo’s own Rotary journey began in 2021, progressing through leadership roles including Family of Rotary Chair, Sergeant-at-Arms, Vice President, and President-Elect.
As she took the oath of office, Onabajo urged members to embrace this year’s theme, Unite for Good. “Together, we will make this a remarkable Rotary year, marked by innovation, service, and a stronger sense of fellowship,” she declared.

She also highlighted plans to introduce mentorship programs for new members and leadership workshops aimed at enhancing skill development within the club.
These initiatives, she explained, are designed to prepare the next generation of Rotary leaders while ensuring the club remains agile and forward-looking in its service efforts.
Finally, Onabajo called on every member to participate actively in club activities, stressing that collective action and teamwork are the backbone of Rotary’s impact. “No achievement is too small, no effort insignificant.
When we come together, we amplify our reach and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve,” she concluded, earning a standing ovation from attendees.
