The Federal Government has begun direct financial disbursement to beneficiaries of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative, signalling a major push in its nationwide skills development drive.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Ministry of Education confirmed on Wednesday that over 42,000 young Nigerians taking part in the programme have now received their monthly stipends of ₦22,500, meant to support transportation and daily upkeep as they progress through their training.

In addition, more than 600 accredited technical and vocational centres have been paid for the instructional services they provide, a move officials say will guarantee steady training delivery and adequate learning conditions across the country.
The latest funding marks the first tranche in what government authorities describe as a long-term, sustained payment structure designed to keep the programme financially stable as it expands. The initiative, which moved from registration to hands-on training in May, is already in full operation nationwide.

Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, said the swift release of funds underscores President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s insistence on accelerating youth-focused development programmes.
“This administration is committed to aggressively investing in our young people,” Alausa said. “For President Tinubu, practical and employable skills remain the quickest route to job creation, enterprise growth and national economic expansion. The TVET programme is Renewed Hope in action turning potential into productivity.”
Officials say further payment rounds will follow in the coming months as the government intensifies efforts to expand access to technical skills and strengthen the country’s human capital base.
