Adeleke denies involvement in JUSUN strike and faults Chief Judge.
Says judiciary crisis stems from refusal to convene JSC meetings.
Reaffirms commitment to restoring full judicial operations.
The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has denied any involvement in the ongoing strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria. In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor said he remained committed to ensuring the judiciary functions effectively in the state.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that he described as baseless the claims that his appointees to the Judicial Service Commission had deliberately boycotted their duties. Adeleke insisted that the disruption within the judiciary was tied to the failure of the Chief Judge to carry out statutory responsibilities.
According to the statement, the governor’s attention was drawn to a petition issued on 8 December by the Forum of Nigerian Bar Association branches in the state. The petition accused him and his appointees of contributing to the current paralysis in the judicial system.
The governor rejected the allegations and said he was fully committed to constitutional governance and the rule of law. He argued that the persistent refusal of the Chief Judge to convene meetings of the Judicial Service Commission had stalled work for two years, despite repeated reminders from the Attorney General and the judiciary workers union.
The statement challenged the Chief Judge and the NBA to produce any communication showing he had convened or directed a meeting of the JSC.
Adeleke Denies Role In JUSUN Strike
Adeleke recalled intervening personally during the previous JUSUN strike in February 2024, where he met with the union’s national leadership to address their demands. He said the government and its appointees remained ready to resolve outstanding issues and restore full judicial operations.
