Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has openly declared his intention to mobilise political support in the state for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the governor made the declaration on Friday at the Government House in Port Harcourt after officially receiving his All Progressives Congress (APC) membership card from the party’s state chairman, Tony Okocha.

Fubara, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said his decision to join the APC was driven by what he described as the best interest of Rivers State, stressing that alignment with the Federal Government was necessary for sustainable development.

He further stated that, as leader of the ruling party in the state, he would personally ensure the welfare and operational needs of the APC, including support for the party’s executive structure.
The governor said his move to the APC was also a gesture of appreciation to President Tinubu, whom he credited with standing by him during politically challenging moments.

Declaring himself “APC 001” in Rivers State, Fubara assured party members that the state would play a central role in delivering an electoral victory for Tinubu in the next general election.
Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, who was present during the flag-off of the Port Harcourt Airport bypass road project, described Fubara’s defection as a major political gain for the APC, noting that it further strengthened the party’s influence in the South-South region.
