The Orijeru of Igbooye Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa, has installed 12 Baales and five Palace Chiefs as part of activities marking the first anniversary of his coronation, in a colourful traditional ceremony held in Igbooye, Eredo–Epe area of Lagos State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the installation rites were jointly carried out by the Alayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu Kingdom, Oba Asunmo Ganiyu Aderibigbe, alongside other monarchs and senior traditional rulers present at the occasion, adding royal prestige and cultural depth to the ceremony.

the Alayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu Kingdom, Oba Asunmo Ganiyu Aderibigbe, urged the newly installed Baales and Palace Chiefs to remain loyal and committed to the Orijeru of Igbooye, stressing the importance of unity and trust in traditional governance.
He cautioned them against actions that could undermine the authority of the throne, noting that effective leadership can only thrive where there is sincerity and cooperation.
According to the monarch, “you must work closely with your king, support his vision, and never betray the trust reposed in you, because the strength of the kingdom depends on the loyalty of its chiefs.”
Speaking during the event, Oba AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa explained that the appointments were necessary to strengthen traditional administration and grassroots governance across Igbooye Kingdom.
According to him, “the king cannot do all the work alone, which is why there is a need for trusted leaders to oversee various communities and report back to the throne.”
The monarch noted that the Baales would serve as the direct link between the palace and their respective villages, ensuring peace, order, and effective communication at the community level.
He added that the newly installed Palace Chiefs also have critical responsibilities within the palace structure.
“The Palace Chiefs have their own roles to play to ensure that community administration becomes easier and works smoothly,” the Orijeru said.
The newly installed Baales are Chief Oluwole Ariyo (Lage), Chief Adegbenro Otunnowo, Chief Adedipe Johnson (Baale Spaale Village), Chief Yesiru Amoda (Baale Akata Village), Chief Toyin Sangosanya, Shakir Hionalaja (Baale Ogoyigayi Village),
Chief Adebowale Olumide (Baale Talase Village), Chief Adeniran Odufayo (Baale Oke-Egon Village), Chief Nurudeen Adegboyega (Baale Imagba Village), Chief Oduntan Gbenga (Baale Tokula Village), Chief Arigbabuwo Bola (Baale Ese-Ebute Village) and Chief Dauda Oke (Baale Tokila Village).

The five newly installed Palace Chiefs include Chief Sunday Adebowale Keshinro, Olori Omooba of Igbooye Kingdom; Chief Oluwaseun Emmanuel Okeowo,
Asoju Oba of Igbooye Kingdom; Chief Kehinde Stephen, Odi Oba of Igbooye Kingdom; Chief Ibitayo Sangosanya, Shobaloju of Igbooye Kingdom; and Chief Iwapele Odulami, Ajiroba of Igbooye Kingdom.

Oba Musa charged all the newly installed chiefs to uphold tradition, promote unity, and see their appointments as a call to service, stressing that “your stools are not for personal gain but for the peace, development and progress of Igbooye Kingdom.”
Some of the chiefs, speaking on behalf of others, pledged loyalty to the throne and commitment to supporting the Orijeru’s vision for a peaceful, orderly, and progressive Igbooye Kingdom.
The coronation anniversary celebration was marked by prayers, traditional rites, and cultural displays, reinforcing the resolve of the Orijeru to run an inclusive and effective traditional administration.
