The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has inaugurated a high-powered Committee on Security to enhance proactive measures aimed at safeguarding lives and property across the council area.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the inauguration ceremony, held at the Exco Chambers, BAT House, Council Secretariat, Igando-Oloja, highlighted the administration’s strong resolve to prioritize security as a core pillar of its S.H.I.E.E.L.D. agenda.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Olowa described security as the foundation of sustainable development, stressing that “no meaningful growth can occur in an atmosphere of fear or instability.”
He explained that the newly constituted committee would work closely with traditional rulers, community leaders and Community Development Associations to drive community-based security initiatives.
According to the council boss, “this committee will work collaboratively with traditional rulers, community leaders, Community Development Associations (CDAs) and implement community-based initiatives for strong security,” adding that “we are proud of this and if we do it successfully, it will improve safety.”
The committee, made up of experienced stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, has been mandated to promote intelligence gathering and oversee the enumeration of motorcycles, popularly known as okada, through the introduction of identification stickers to aid security monitoring.
Hon. Olowa charged members of the committee to discharge their duties with a strong sense of patriotism and urgency, assuring them of the full backing of the local government.
He also called on residents to support the initiative by cooperating with security efforts and providing timely and credible information to relevant authorities.
The committee has been given a one-month timeline to complete its assignment and submit recommendations aimed at strengthening security architecture within Ibeju-Lekki.
