The Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) 2025 Chairman’s Cup football tournament has successfully concluded at A.U.D Primary School, Odo-Egiri, with exciting matches that showcased skill, discipline, and community spirit among participating teams.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Out of 17 teams that competed in the tournament, Iraye FC emerged champions, finishing in 1st position after a tense final against Egiri United, which ended goalless in regulation time.

The match was decided via penalties, with Iraye FC winning 7–6 to lift the coveted Chairman’s Cup trophy and cart away the ₦1.5 million cash prize.
Egiri United finished in 2nd position, receiving a trophy alongside a ₦800,000 cash reward for their impressive performance throughout the competition.
The third-place match between Iragunshin FC and Odoshiwola FC also ended in a 0-0 draw, before Iragunshin FC secured 3rd position with an 8–7 victory on penalties, earning a trophy and ₦500,000 prize money, while Odoshiwola FC settled for fourth place.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, congratulated all teams that made it to the final stages, noting that both the 1st and 2nd placed teams are winners considering the level of competition.
“For a team to emerge first or second among 17 teams is not a small achievement. The prizes of ₦1.5 million, ₦800,000, and ₦500,000 for the top three teams are part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which has empowered us to take good care of our people,” he said, urging other teams to prepare better for future editions.
The Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Mr. Felix Olalekan Adekoya, described the tournament as a true empowerment platform.
“The professionalism displayed by the players was outstanding. Both the final and third-place matches ended in draws and were decided by penalties. This competition has taken many of our youths off the streets and helped them focus on their talents,” he stated.
The captain of Iraye FC also expressed appreciation to the Chairman, noting that the tournament has helped many young players discover and develop their passion for football.
The competition was officially kicked off by Hon. Wasiu Odeyemi, who performed the ceremonial opening kick and presided over the event.
At the end of the tournament, trophies and cash prizes were presented to the teams according to their positions, reaffirming the Chairman’s commitment to youth empowerment, sports development, and community unity through football.
