- E-registration Mandatory for all APC Members, Lagos Chapter Declares
- Oladejo disclosed that the e-registration exercise commenced on Monday and will run until the end of January
- Says the initiative would sanitise the party’s membership register by eliminating duplication
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has declared that its ongoing electronic membership registration is mandatory and far from a mere formality, describing the exercise as a key political reform aimed at strengthening internal democracy and party discipline.
Eko Hot Blog reports ythe party made the clarification in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Lagos State Publicity Secretary, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, who said the initiative underscores the APC’s commitment to transparency, structure and electoral competitiveness in Nigeria’s democratic process.

Oladejo disclosed that the e-registration exercise commenced on Monday and will run until the end of January, allowing sufficient time for both existing and prospective members to be captured in the party’s digital database.
According to him, political parties that resist reform are bound to decline, stressing that the APC has deliberately chosen order, accountability and transparency over arbitrariness and disorganisation.
“The e-registration exercise is a direct response to the demands of modern politics, data integrity and credible internal democracy,” Oladejo said.
He explained that the initiative would sanitise the party’s membership register by eliminating duplication, impersonation and other irregularities capable of weakening party cohesion.
“Every APC member must be identifiable, verifiable and properly accounted for. That is how serious political parties operate,” he added.

Oladejo further noted that the exercise creates a level playing field for both old and new members, dismantling gate-keeping tendencies and reinforcing the principle that the party belongs to all members, not to individuals or interest groups.
He said the exercise also reflects the APC’s readiness to accommodate its growing membership base, insisting that the party remains open, inclusive and expanding.
Beyond its administrative value, the APC spokesman described the e-registration as the foundation for credible congresses, transparent primaries and legitimate leadership selection.
“Anyone uncomfortable with this process must explain their preference for obscurity, manipulation and disorder. The APC will not return to the politics of shadows,” he said.
Oladejo also highlighted the strategic importance of the initiative, noting that it boosts youth participation, attracts professionals and first-time members, and positions the party as technology-driven and forward-looking.
By adopting a data-based membership system, he said, the APC is strengthening grassroots mobilisation, refining campaign strategies and enhancing electoral preparedness.
“A party that truly knows its members cannot be ambushed at the polls,” Oladejo stated.
He expressed confidence that the outcome of the exercise would further consolidate the APC’s dominance in Nigeria’s political landscape, urging members and stakeholders to participate fully.
According to him, apathy toward the exercise amounts to a disservice to the party’s progressive ideals.
“The APC will continue to reform, expand and lead. This e-registration exercise is a clear signal that the party will not be held hostage by inertia or retrogressive interests,” the statement concluded.
