The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has threatened to have a Facebook user arrested over the alleged dissemination of false information against his person and the throne.

According to the statement, the Facebook user circulated a video in which he claimed that the Oluwo referred to the Olokuku as a Baale, an allegation the palace described as false and misleading.
The palace said the content of the video was a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and stir tension between the two traditional institutions.
“The video was not only misleading but a calculated attempt to disrupt public harmony and sow seeds of disunity between the two crowns,” the statement read.

Oba Akanbi dismissed the allegation, stating that at no point did he refer to the Olokuku as a Baale. He accused the Facebook user of deliberately twisting facts to gain attention and generate traffic for social media monetisation.
The monarch expressed confidence in the Nigerian Police Force and the judiciary to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure justice is served.
“For the avoidance of doubt, there was nowhere the Oluwo referred to the Olokuku as a Baale. The individual involved is a rumour peddler seeking relevance by exploiting the popularity of the Oluwo,” the statement added.
The palace warned that spreading false information and engaging in cyberbullying would not be tolerated, stressing that the individual would face the full weight of the law.
“You cannot smear a person’s reputation with falsehoods and expect to walk free. Appropriate legal steps have been taken to address the issue,” the statement concluded.
