The police in Cross River State have arrested a 24-year-old man, identified as Joseph Emmanuel, for allegedly beating his 10-year-old daughter to death in Calabar.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident reportedly followed a domestic disagreement after the child misplaced her father’s petrol pipe, which he used for his commercial motorcycle business.

The situation was said to have escalated into violence, during which the girl sustained severe injuries.
Residents of the area were thrown into outrage after the incident, with angry neighbours reportedly attempting to lynch the suspect before police operatives arrived at the scene.
Emmanuel was rescued from the mob and taken into police custody, having allegedly sustained injuries during the confrontation. Sources said the suspect later admitted to beating the child, claiming he acted out of provocation.
The victim was confirmed dead shortly after the incident.

The Cross River State Police Command confirmed the arrest, stating that investigations had commenced. Police sources disclosed that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
