Miami International Airport (MIA) was partially evacuated on Sunday after officials discovered unattended luggage at Departures, Door 21.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) closed checkpoints serving Concourses G, H, and J, as well as surrounding areas, which remained shut shortly before 7 p.m., the Miami-Dade Aviation Department said.

Spokesperson Greg Chin advised travelers heading to MIA to allow extra time for their journey, saying, “Passengers driving to MIA this evening should give themselves additional time.”
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene shortly before 5 p.m., according to Detective Angel Rodriguez. Authorities evacuated passengers “out of an abundance of caution,” and no injuries were reported.

Videos and photos shared on social media showed large crowds gathered outside the airport. Some travelers reported hearing a “pop” that sparked panic, though Chin clarified that airport officials were not aware of any such sound linked to the evacuation.
