EKO HOT BLOG reports that the state Ministry of Health confirmed the development, stating that 15 of the facilities have since been reopened after meeting the required operational and professional standards.
The closures, according to the government, form part of broader efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and ensure that medical services across the state meet acceptable standards under the administration of Governor Charles Soludo.
Among the facilities affected by the action is the state owned Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka.
The Ministry of Health also provided updates on the progress of emergency medical services in the state. Since the launch of the Anambra State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System in May 2023, the programme has expanded significantly.
The emergency response system has grown from an initial 10 ambulances to more than 60 units, now providing coverage across all 21 local government areas of the state.
In addition, the state government disclosed that it has received proposals for 588 additional emergency transport units. These include 315 tricycle ambulances designed to serve rural communities and support maternal and child health services.
Seven boat ambulances have also been deployed to improve access to emergency care in riverine areas of the state.
The government said the expanded ambulance network is aimed at ensuring that residents in both urban and rural communities can access timely emergency medical care when needed.

It added that health facilities across the state have been integrated into the emergency response system, a move expected to enhance patient referrals and reduce delays in accessing critical care.
