Delivering judgment on Monday, Justice Funsho Lawal held that the prosecution successfully proved a four-count charge of conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping and rape against the defendants.
The court heard that on June 15, 2025, at Kanjile Village via the Kulende area of Ilorin, the convicts invaded the victims’ farm, robbed them of their belongings and abducted Mrs. Morenikeji to a secluded location, where they demanded a ransom of ₦5 million.

Justice Lawal noted that the victims were restrained during the attack and subjected to severe trauma. The court found the evidence presented by the prosecution credible and consistent, establishing the guilt of the accused beyond reasonable doubt.
In his ruling, the judge described the crimes as heinous and deserving of the maximum penalty prescribed by law, before sentencing the three convicts to death.
The judgment reinforces the judiciary’s stance against violent crimes in the state and serves as a warning to criminal elements operating within and around Kwara State.
