An official of the country’s aviation authority later confirmed that all those on board died in the crash. The plane was said to be carrying 13 passengers and two crew members.

The Cúcuta axis, where the incident occurred, is known for its difficult terrain, harsh weather conditions and the presence of armed groups, including the National Liberation Army.
Following the crash, the Colombian government deployed the Air Force to help locate the wreckage and recover the bodies.
Reacting to the tragedy, local lawmaker Wilmer Carrillo said the development was received with deep concern, noting that Quintero, Carlos Salcedo and members of their teams were on board the ill-fated aircraft.

Quintero serves in Colombia’s Chamber of Deputies, while Salcedo is a political aspirant ahead of the country’s forthcoming elections.
The incident adds to the list of fatal air accidents in Colombia involving notable figures. In January 2025, a private jet crashed in central-eastern Colombia, killing all six occupants, including popular singer Yeison Jiménez.
